Program Objective

This program is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills necessary to assume an entry level position in a childcare setting such as child care centers, nursery schools, hospitals, and family child care homes. This comprehensive program is also appropriate for individuals who wish to operate their own facility. The growing demand for professional preschool providers makes this a field of endless possibilities.

This program concentrates on two areas: Progressive child care and effective business management. Through classroom instruction and hands-on experience in operating child care facilities, you will learn how to develop programs that will effectively stimulate the intellectual, emotional, social, and physical growth of today's youth.

Keystone Technical Institute is located in the foothills of the Blue Mountains north of the city of Harrisburg, PA. It is served by Capitol Area Transit (CAT) buses and is easily reached from any point in the greater Harrisburg area. It is also readily accessible by car from Routes 11, 15, 22, 81, 83, 230, 322, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Harrisburg International Airport 15 minutes south. KTI has plenty of parking facilities available for students.

Admissions Requirements

• All applicants must be beyond the age of compulsory school attendance.
• Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Currently enrolled high school seniors may apply pending graduation.
• Child Care students must have a documented clean criminal check and child abuse registry. If one is not available at the time of enrollment the applications for such record checks must be completed and submitted at the student's expense.
