Early Childhood Education Associate of Science Degree Program

The preparation for providing early childhood education is the main purpose of the Early Childhood Education Associate of Science Degree Program. Preschools, childcare centers, school-age programs, and public schools all employ early childhood educators. In addition, the coursework provides students with opportunities to study and apply their understanding in emergent literacy, the exceptional child, and in documenting observations and using the data to plan lessons to meet the needs of the children. The emphasis will be on creation of curriculums that are developmentally appropriate, accompanied by instruction and assessment in their classrooms.

Students will work at a local school to be better prepared for entering their career before during the program. Once you have graduated from the program you will be confident in your role as a teacher, be aware of how children learn, have a greater understanding of the diversity in our population, have a solid knowledge regarding the growth and development of young children and be able to observe children, using data to plan developmentally appropriate instructional experiences.
