Early Childhood Education - Infant/Toddler & Special NeedsThe ECE Infant/Toddler and Special Needs program is a continuation of standard Early Childhood Education Program. As an ECE graduate, you will have increased chances for job and knowledge advancement through the two imperative childcare skills learned in this course. You are required to be a licensed Early Childhood Educator engaged in completing the required 500 hours of work experience in order to enroll in the program. You may choose to enter one of two areas: Infant/Toddler Specialization, which is working with children three and under, and Special Needs Specialization, for children requiring more support. Areas of concentration require completion of seven courses, and a single practicum. Completion of all nine courses and two practicum placements are required for total specialization. These courses will lead you to obtain a license to practice as a special needs educator, or an infant/toddler educator. All classes are available full time, every weekday. The classes are half-day in duration, to accommodate your studies, and employment as ECE practitioners. Program Duration: 31 weeks, including practicum. Early Childhood Education ProgramThe Early Childhood Education program prepares you for a fulfilling career working with infants, and young children. Your study will consist of interpersonal communications, childhood development, behavior management, and program planning. You will also learn how to use techniques based on drama, mathematics, science, play, and arts and crafts as part of your teaching methods. First Aid and CPR training and certifications are also included. As a part of this program, you will see experienced Early Childhood Educators at work, and then apply what you've learned during eight weeks of courses. Once you have finished the coursework, licensing requirements stipulate you need to acquire an extra 500 hours of experience in the field. When you finish the first ECE module, you will have the option to try for an assessment letter so that you can advance to an assistant position with the Early Childhood Education Registry. The required hours can be completed in a full time job or simply through volunteering as you train. Employment in this field is in daycare centers, preschools, nursery schools, and integrated day cares, and family service centers... the choice is yours. Program Duration: The program, including observation and practicum, lasts 43 weeks. |
